Appointed Forward Development Advisor to Romeike International Reflecting the PhD? interest in the value of relationships, a major paper on development of value from intangible assets 'Towards Relationship Management' was given to the Alan Rawel CIPR Academic Conference April 2005. Demonstrated a process for evaluating press coverage using Latent Semantic Analysis.

Wrote The Evaluation Needs of the Public Relations Industry, a research paper for The Centre for PR Research at Leeds

2004 Appointed Chairman of the Delahaye UK Advisory Board Completed the largest bibliography about public relations measurement and evaluation worldwide. Created software to automate summarisation of news stories

2003 Detailed and new research identified the extent to which the ‘nominal juror’ is influenced by the Internet for professional evidence to the High Court at the John Leslie case. Presented the paper about the Value of Public Relations to Bledcom, The annual international public relations academic symposium. Developed News management software for normalising, abstracting and distributing clips and news texts from CyberAlert?, web and other sources. Developed software for Latent Semantic Analysis applications. Began Part time, distance PhD?. Created an online version of the stakeholder mapping software programme using a visualisation technique (The Clarity Concept). Advised Government department on stakeholder strategy with Dr Jon White.

2002 Internet Reputation Services invited to advise on PR agency selection for £5 million Government funded business start-up initiative. Re-structured Clarity Software Ltd creating new consultancy software for identification and evaluation of stakeholders, brands and issues using corporate knowledge resources and tacit management knowledge.

Presented Meta Data for PR Insights, an invited paper to the CyberAlert? International Conference on the Impact of the Internet on Media Monitoring New York. Appointed Chair of membership committee of, a global XML initiative for the PR industry. The next Big Thing in PR, a paper about XML to the Public Relations Society of America International Convention San Francisco Lectured on On-line Public Relations, lectures at Universities of Bournemouth, Leeds Metropolitan, Lincoln, South Wales; Brand Attributes in Public Relations Lecture for Bournemouth University. The Internet Effect paper presented to the Motor Industry Public Affairs Association.

2001 Developed software for the ordering of client’s daily web citations for management of web based news and comment.

2000 Lectures on the effect of the Internet on corporate reputation and communications across Europe (Sweden, Cyprus, The Netherlands, UK). Delivered the findings of the IPR/PRCA Internet Commission to the Public Relations Society of America Executive Council.

1999 Founded Internet Reputation Services Ltd., a vehicle for Online freelance work. Appointed as Chairman of the joint United Kingdom Institute of Public Relations and Public Relations Consultants’ Association Internet Commission.

1995 ‘The Millennium Force’ lecture to the Institute of Public Relations conference in 1995 on the future of PR with Dr. Jon White, Dr Reginald Watts FIPR and Tom Brannan FCIM. One of the first lectures on the future effect of Information and Communications Technologies to any public relations forum in the world.

1994 Developed the first corporate relationship envisioning software with Dr Jon White and formed Clarity Software Ltd.

1992 The media content analysis and evaluation division formed as Media Measurement Ltd. As MD, I pioneered many of the media evaluation industry techniques, developed a world leading software programme. At the time it employed 20 people, the company was sold (in 1998).

1985 Formed Phillips And Company a Public Relations and Marketing consultancy with clients such as SKF, Rockwell Automation, Hughes Network Systems, Tussauds, Hyster Europe, Boss Group, APV/Bitzer and Atlet.

The consultancy business was sold in an MBO when its fee base reach £0.4 million to Taurus PR in 1997.
