Edit password required
In November 2004 this wiki has suffered a series of spam attacks. As a result, I decided to require a password for editing pages.
If you want to suggest a link or a new page for the NewPR Wiki, please send me an e-mail at cbasturea at gmail dot com.
You can also e-mail me to request a password (if you plan to become an editor).
I regret having to make this decision, but it's the only way to protect this wiki from displaying links to dubious websites.
Thank you for your understanding. - Constantin Basturea

Why do you blog?
I have used dynamic web content management tools for both corporate and client public relations for that last 4 years. As a PR professional, the ability to instantly and easily create and distribute (through RSS and other means) communications to influence key audiences is my primary interest. After being frustrated by the lack of tools and increased dependence on IT, I co-founded a software company devoted to providing dynamic communications, content management and web publishing tools to agencies and corporate clients.
Describe CorporateBloggingSurvey here.
I've been thinking about the value of corporate blogging and I thought a survey would help answer some of my questions. Here are my questions, click here to see my original posting. John Cass
For all of those corporate bloggers, I have some questions for you about corporate blogging:
1) Why do you blog for your company?
2) What goals did you set for the blog?
3) How do you think your blog fits into your company's communications strategy?
4) Tell me about the publishing mechanics of your blog. How often do you publish? How do you decide what to publish? Any special publishing techniques?
5) Who writes the blog? Who contributes to the blog on a regular basis?
6) Have you achieved your original communications goals?
7) Were there any any unexpected communications or learning consequences as a result of publishing your blog?

1) Why do you blog for your company?
We had been running public facing mailing lists for over 3 years (http://lists.us.dell.com) and decided we needed a more concrete place to make information available to our Linux customers. Since, as engineers, we were already communicating directly with customers through those lists, running a blog was the next logical step.
2) What goals did you set for the blog?
We knew the Linux community finds it highly valuable to interact directly so anything we could do to facilitate this was seen as a win-win for Dell, the Linux community and our customers. Our main goal was to be helpful and with Linux, blogging appears to be a natural fit.
3) How do you think your blog fits into your company's communications strategy?
Dell is all about being "direct". Having established ourselves in the marketplace by selling computers directly to ...

Hi, Heather Hamilton here...Senior Recruiter for Marketing Talent Acquisition at Microsoft.
1) I'm responsible for outreach to the technnical marketing industry. There is alot more to my job than blogging, but in recruiting, you really want to focus on ways of reaching people that are fast and easy, cheap and effective. Blogging addresses all of those requirements. Also, it allows me to get marketing specific content out publicly, while it's pretty much impossible to get that info out via our jobs website. Also, I do it because it's fun and addresses some brand building objectives we have (when I say we I generally mean the marketing staffing function here at Microsoft). While that sounds really "corporate PR-ish", what I really mean is that we want people to understand that Microsoft is a great place to work (especially in marketing) and so getting someone ...

About wiki's RSS feeds
The good news:
Instead of a couple of lines of non-structured text, now the RSS feeds include links and preserve the structure of their corresponding wiki pages. So you don't have to visit the wiki in order to access the new content; you can just read it in your newsreader and click the links.
The bad news:
The feeds are not valid anymore. This might cause some problems in some newsreaders. I'm using Bloglines - and the feed I get looks OK, except for some white spaces that are missing whenever the wiki's markup is present (links, bold, italics, etc.)
For now it's a tradeoff; I hope to find soon a solution to have a valid and well-structured RSS feed.
Please let me know if you have problems with the new form of the feed.
Many thanks to Patrick Michaud for his help.
Constantin Basturea /June
